She even worked five years as the costume designer for the OSU department of dance, from 2008 to 2013. A family friend helped me get an audition for a semi-professional production of "Guys and Dolls," in which I was cast as Calvin. “I never thought theatre could be my career,” she noted, “until I had the opportunity to live in Seattle, Washington, with my brother and his family. Then a venture in Seattle solidified the love. “Deborah English was the director at that time.” “I got involved with the RVHS musical my freshman year,” she said. When I look back at my childhood interests, it only makes sense I ended up working in theatre.” They supported me when I realized theatre was my passion, and in all of the ups and downs. “My parents, Paul and Andrea Yaw, gave me the gift of introducing me to theatre by taking me to my first Broadway shows. “I was very involved in music growing up – piano, flute and voice,” she recalled. Yaw McMullen grew up in Coshocton, graduated from River View High School, then earned her undergrad degree in theatre and her master’s in theatre design and production (with an emphasis in costume design), both from The Ohio State University. “You have to love it to choose it as a path.
